This is my video I’ve worked on for my project throughout the semester focusing on food trucks in Greenville, SC. I placed an emphasis on how these four food trucks incorporate social media into their marketing campaigns in order to spread the word about their business. Many thanks to Neue Southern Food Truck, Thoroughfare Food Truck, Asada, and Henry’s Hog Howler for helping out and for the delicious food!

For my semester-long topic, I chose to focus on the Food Truck Movement here in Greenville. Over the past week, I visited three of the five popular food trucks in town.

There are five known food trucks in the Greenville area and I’ve posted a list of them all and linked to their Facebook/Twitter page if they have one:

One way they are promoting their business is through social media, since it’s a free form of communication to the public. In order to find where they were located each day, I would go to Twitter or Facebook to look at their schedule for the week and where each of them were parked. This is a perfect example of how digital communications has helped small businesses, such as food trucks, gain attention. Without the help of social media, the Food Truck Revolution wouldn’t be possible.

I’ve created a slideshow of my three visits to some of the local food trucks including, Thoroughfare, Neue Southern, and Henry’s Hog Hauler. All of them equally as scrumptious as the other. I used Adobe Photoshop to enhance my images in order to better convey my story. Enjoy, and I hope you don’t get too hungry – if so, go on a food truck scavenger. Trust me, it’s totally worth it.

A Glimpse About Me

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! My name is Carly Grieff and I am currently a senior at Furman University majoring in Communication Studies. I will be using this blog as a way to study and examine the various digital communications formats and techniques, which are prevalent in our society today. As I am stumbling upon new and exciting things relating to digital communications, I will be able to share with you what I have discovered throughout the semester on my blog page, as well as using this blog as a way to help guide me along the way path towards my future career. At the moment, I am still not sure what I want to do with my professional life post-grad, like most seniors. However, I am very passionate about magazines and newspapers and hope to one day write for one. This blog will be a way for me to express what I am learning about digital communications and how it has evolved the ever-changing print media industry.

What I most am looking forward to learning about digital communications throughout this semester is how to create and edit a video. Since videos have become one of the most important features of news websites and the Internet in general, I believe this will be an extremely beneficial skill to acquire.

Additionally, some of my blog posts will be tied together with a recurrent theme. I have two ideas in mind, one being a focus on the Furman Dance Company. I am a member of the Dance Company and have been dancing ever since I learned to take my first steps. It’s something I am very passionate about and I love discussing it with people, which is why I think I would thoroughly enjoy writing about it.

Another topic I am considering is the growing “foodie” fad throughout Greenville. I myself am a huge foodie and love writing about restaurants and delicious meals, therefore this would be an extremely appetizing topic for me. I have tried to make it my goal to visit as many of the food and restaurants options as I can during my college career here in Greenville.

Stay tuned for more to come!
